Free Things to do

Huh, well how do you like those apples?  Here we are on August 15th with only 54 days left.  Who saw that coming?  Half of our wait time has dwindled.

Trivia:  Did you know that I edit the blogs from my work computer but can only add pictures from my personal laptop?  If you don't know, now you know.

Realism of not going to Florida is hitting hard.  There are no deals for Niagara or Buffalo, but I continue to look.  I'd like to go to a place with a pool.  Considering the time of year it'll need to be an indoor pool which drives the price up, of course.  Right now, 3 days somewhat local would cost the same as 10 days in Florida.  That's sad.  But I'll find something that works for us.  It might be what I do best.

This will be the last BLOG edition for awhile, sadly.  Maybe I'll invest time in a family one for January.  I don't think the kids would remember when I did ones for them and it would be new for Taylor and Julian.  It's 5 months out so hopefully Florida has no one left to get Covid by then.

Anyway, I kept this one because it fits with the previous one and it has a lot of cool stuff that is new or revisited.

So, it costs $109 USD for one day (off peak) at Disney World.  Florida can be friggin' expensive.  However, in keeping with our $18/night CDN hotel room, I thought I'd find us a few things to do that don't cost any money.  This is either a step up or a step down from the last edition, because these are actually free things to do!

USTA

I'm not going to lie, I've been influenced by Wimbledon.  The United States Tennis Association campus is 20 minutes from Seralago.  There's no pro scheduled tournaments there, but there are NCAA college tournaments and the Jr Davis Cup tournaments are held there.  Regardless, it's high calibre tennis and it might be cool to check it out.   There are over 100 courts there and you can play as well as watch.  I'm sure there's a charge for playing.  The likelihood of going here is pretty low, but it's an option to look at if there's something compelling going on. Here is the link USTA

West Orange Trail

Again, how did I not know about this?  So I would call this less of a "trail" and more of a path maybe?  Much of it is paved but it is cut out of the wilderness.  Looks similar to our trail but flatter and cleaner.  The reason it's paved is so that it's fully wheelchair accessible, way to go Orlando!  The trail is 22 miles long so there's no way we're doing it all in a day but it sounds like a great way to spend part a morning.  I'm thinking there's a pretty reasonable chance of checking this out.  Take a look here ... Universal City Walk

Ya I know, I don't do Universal.  However this might be a good introduction.  From what I've been able to gather, the Universal City Walk is their version of Disney springs.  It's about 25 minutes from our hotel in the heart of Orlando.  It seems to be primarily restaurants and music.  I would say from the look of things that it's much more party oriented than Disney Springs.  There are only 4 shopping stores there but I'm sure they're oversized and magnificent.  I'd put the odds of going here in the high category.  This might be worth checking out.  Maybe we can try butterbeer?  UNIVERSAL

Here are a couple of other ones that I won't give a lot of detail for because we've been there.  But they are free options for us.

Winter Park - A nice 2-3 hour outing regardless of whether or not we do the boat tour.

Cocoa Beach - For a cooler beach experience plus walking around. Nice day trip.

Clearwater Beach - For the warmer beach experience, also walking around.  Another nice day trip.

ESPN Wide World Of Sports - In case you're in a baseball mood.

Old Town - Obviously.

The Boardwalk - Always a fun way to spend an hour or two and dip our toes in Epcot.

Disney Springs - Goes without saying ... we'll need to get a pin starter set for Taylor.

Hope you enjoyed ... xoxoxoxox
